A Brisbane-First Capturing Our Diversity and Spirit
What can 90 hands and eyes capture over 170 days, across more than 26 places, in what’s considered a first for Brisbane?
This exhibition offers a unique insight into our city’s diversity and spirit and is the inaugural exhibition from Urban Art Binge. Students have all contributed work to the show which illustrates their processes and experience with images ranging from the Port of Brisbane’s cranes through to the pirouettes of a Saturday morning ballet class in Bardon. Urban Art Binge are extending the artistic spark to people who join us on opening night. A FUN and FREE SKETCH EVENT, FIRE TWIRLING and LIVE MUSIC will be part of the opening event festivities. Brisbane's Street Food Australia (SFA) will also be making an appearance and providing freshly cooked food on site. Our focus at UAB is to ignite the creative spark in our students – the exhibition showcases their work and gives our community a view of what it means to be part of our city. We’re excited to be part of Brisbane’s cultural evolution – we had incredible interest in our work from the community as we were out and about sketching in places like the Queen Street Mall and Kangaroo Point. We'd like all interested community members and emerging creative sparks to join us for the event. |
The exhibition documents the many places and faces of Brisbane through the drawing and painting of our students over the past year. Joannah Underhill We’re both incredibly passionate about sharing our knowledge and creating a community of artists. Our students joined us for seven hours of sketching and painting every week for six weeks. It was an intense schedule but their commitment and their learning are well documented in this exhibition. Our focus at UAB is to ignite the creative spark in our students – the exhibition showcases their work and gives our community a view of what it means to be part of our city. |
